Book boards for the restoration of the Domesday Book/s by the Public Records Office, Kew. Quarter sawn English oak. The turned rods are for supporting the spine when the books are opened, to avoid straining the bindings. Design by Roger Powell. EBW, 1984.

The rebates accommodate the morocco leather spine covering, the curved inner edges accommodate the enlarged section of the sewn bindings. The edges were drilled to accept ties for holding the books together. The large boards measure H387 x W270 x T16 mm, the smaller boards measure H292 x W190 x T13 mm.
