The grill measures measures 1000 x 610 mm and is made from 3 mm thick expanded steel with open areas measuring 38 x 17 mm. The top of the fire box is 950 mm from the ground and is made from half a 45 gallon steel drum (size: L880 x W585 mm). The drum is a press fit onto the base frame which is of all welded construction. This consists of two 'H'-frames made from 50 x 50 x 3 mm mild steel angle. The frames are braced by two 'U'-shaped stays made from 20 mm square box section. The stays slide into 25 mm square box section sockets and are retained by bolts.
